How is infertility treated in Turkey?

Turkey is one of the leaders in the field of artificial insemination. How do they help childless people dreaming of offspring?

A childless marriage is incomplete, devoid of the happiness of motherhood and fatherhood. Many families are destroyed precisely because of the inability to have a child. The relevance of the issue is also emphasized by the fact that in recent years the percentage of female and male infertility has rapidly increased.
Today, the method of artificial insemination is very popular, is widely used in various countries and is considered the most progressive in the field of infertility treatment.

Indications and contraindications for IVF

Indications for in vitro fertilization are all types of male and female infertility. For any reasons that lead to the impossibility of conceiving a child, experts recommend IVF. This is a completely safe and effective method that is used all over the world.
However, not all women can have in vitro fertilization. There are some contraindications and limitations. These include:
Chronic diseases of internal organs and systems in the stage of decompensation, which significantly aggravate pregnancy and childbirth;
Congenital malformations of the uterus and its appendages;
Malignant neoplasms of other organs and systems;
Benign and malignant tumors of the uterus and ovaries;
Mental illness of a woman.
Before in vitro fertilization, German specialists thoroughly prepare a man and a woman for a planned pregnancy.

Preparation for fertilization

At this stage, a woman’s hospitalization is very often needed for a short period. At this time, the necessary laboratory and instrumental examinations are carried out, as well as the determination of the levels of hormones of the thyroid gland, ovaries and pituitary gland. Also, a woman and a man must comply with important requirements: Complete exclusion of alcohol and smoking; German experts also attach great importance to the weight of a woman. Obese patients are very often at risk of complications of pregnancy and childbirth; It is also recommended to avoid fast food, foods rich in trans fats, high-calorie baked goods, carbonated drinks, etc. The nutrition of a man and a woman should be balanced and rich in vitamins; A few days before the puncture of the follicles, a married couple should refrain from intimate life; Low-intensity sports are also recommended; It is necessary to completely exclude visiting saunas, baths, hot baths. Each IVF clinic in Turkey has all the necessary conditions and resources for this procedure. The protocol of in vitro fertilization in each case is developed individually, depending on the age and general health of the woman, as well as the fertilizing ability of the male sperm. In general, apart from some nuances, the procedure is carried out according to approximately the same scheme:
Stimulation of ovulation.
To obtain the required number of healthy eggs, doctors prescribe hormonal drugs to stimulate their growth. In Turkish clinics, sparing hormone therapy protocols are practiced, which allow not only to minimize adverse reactions, but also to reduce the total cost of IVF in Turkey.
Egg and sperm collection.
Doctors puncture the woman’s ovaries and thus extract mature eggs from them, after which they undergo a thorough laboratory analysis. A man donates sperm on his own or it is also taken from him by aspiration from a testicle.
Fertilization of an egg.
The procedure is different ways. For example, with ICSI, the sperm cell is injected into the egg cell using the thinnest needle; with classical IVF, the sex cells are connected in a test tube. In order to achieve the best results, Turkish specialists practice the simultaneous fertilization of several eggs at once – this increases the chances of pregnancy.
Embryo cultivation .
Fertilized eggs are placed in a special incubator for a period of 2 to 5 days. After that, doctors select the highest quality embryos suitable for transplantation into the uterus.
Transfer of the embryo into the uterine cavity.
Depending on the number of embryos obtained by IVF, medical indicators and the wishes of the woman herself, one or more embryos are transferred into her uterus. The procedure is absolutely painless and does not require hospitalization – immediately after its completion, the patient can return to her daily routine.
Checking the onset of pregnancy.
2 weeks after the embryo replanting, the woman does a pregnancy test and takes a blood test for hCG. If the results of these studies are positive, an ultrasound scan is additionally prescribed. For most of those who have done IVF in Turkey, already the first attempt ends with success. If pregnancy has not occurred for one reason or another, doctors carry out additional diagnostic procedures, discuss the possible reasons for the failure, and then decide on the possibility of performing repeated protocols. As a rule, in vitro fertilization pregnancy is supported by hormonal drugs. It is very important that no complications arise during this period. Therefore, a woman should regularly undergo laboratory and instrumental examinations.
